Kids Spanish Immersion & Enrichment Social Classes Aid Bilingual Parenting

A revolution in how children are taught Spanish is underway in California. Social teaching environments and bilingual learning bring new benefits for all participants.

Culver City, United States - August 10, 2018 /NewsNetwork/ —

California’s embrace of Proposition 58 in November 2016 opened the door to the reintroduction of non-English language teaching, most commonly Spanish, in public schools. Now imaginative education entrepreneurs all over the state are providing innovative ways for busy parents to immerse their kids in Spanish language and culture in preschool, after school and summer camp settings in an effort to make their children bilingual at an early age.

One of the most interesting philosophies emerging from the increased academic study on the effects a bilingual education has on children’s development is that social environments foster an almost unconscious learning of important language fundamentals. Young children very quickly grasp multi-language equivalence in numbers, colors, sounds and smells without tedious vocabulary exercises that are traditionally based on repetition and homework.

A new group of educators at Chiqui Social in Culver City CA aims to bring exactly this type of bilingual Spanish Immersion education to the wider Los Angeles area.

Owner Lizet Alvarez notes “One of the newest trends in public education is two-way immersion where two languages are taught side by side with the aim of functional bilingualism by the time kids get to Middle School. Chiqui Social helps develop those language skills in a fun, social setting.”

Alvarez adds “The first seven years of a child’s life is when their belief system is formed. Learning a different language can make them more aware of cultural differences. They also come to understand why those differences exist and the importance of respecting cultures different from their own.”

Chiqui Social is enrolling children now for all classes. The company’s goal is to develop a lifelong ability in children to communicate with people from other cultures, countries, and backgrounds and to expand their educational, professional, and social opportunities. Chiqui Social provides an ideal setting for gently exposing your child to one of the world’s most popular languages.

Lim said it will take the government three years to resolve its fiscal woes due to more than 1 trillion ringgit ($240.5 billion) in debt and another 35 billion ringgit ($8.4 billion) in newly discovered unpaid tax refunds that were not disclosed by the previous government. "Fiscal consolidation will not be achieved easily, and we must be willing to expect some...

Malaysia ex-PM fails in media gag bid ahead of graft trial

Oct 17, 2018

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak failed Friday to win a court order barring the media from discussing the merits of corruption charges against him ahead of the start of his trial on Feb. 12. Najib has pleaded not guilty to seven charges of criminal breach of trust, abuse of power and money laundering in a case related to the alleged multibillion-dollar looting of the 1MDB state investment fund that led to his stunning electoral defeat three months ago. After hearing lengthy arguments from both prosecutors and defense lawyers, High Court Judge Mohamad Nazlan Mohamad Ghazali...

Malaysia's Mahathir to visit China for talks on projects

Oct 17, 2018

PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia — Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said Friday he will visit Beijing next month to renegotiate terms for China-backed rail and gas pipeline projects in Malaysia worth more than $22 billion. The government has ordered Chinese state-owned companies to suspend work on the $20 billion East Coast Rail Link, a key venture under China's Belt and Road initiative, and two gas pipeline projects pending negotiations. Contracts for the projects were approved in 2016 by former Prime Minister Najib Razak's government. It was replaced by Mahathir's government following a May 9 election upset. Mahathir said he will visit China in...

Ex-Malaysia leader's arrest part of a swift fall from grace

Oct 17, 2018

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Just two months ago, Najib Razak was a towering figure in Malaysian politics and literally beyond the law. That cloak of privilege and impunity was torn away Tuesday when anti-corruption police arrested him at his posh Kuala Lumpur home. Since his spectacular defeat in a May 9 general election, the government has swiftly reopened investigations into the multibillion-dollar looting of the 1MDB state investment fund that Najib set up when he took power in 2009. The now defunct fund amassed billions in debts and is being investigated in the U.S. and several other countries for alleged...

Malaysia seeks sharp cuts in $20 bln China-backed rail link

Oct 17, 2018

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Malaysia's government said Tuesday a major China-backed rail link project can only be viable with a "drastic" price reduction by the Chinese contractor as the actual cost of the venture is 81 billion ringgit ($20 billion). The 688 kilometer (430 miles) East Coast Rail Link is a key part of China's regional Belt and Road infrastructure initiative. It would connect Malaysia's west coast to rural eastern states. It is largely financed by China and the main contract was awarded in 2016 to the China Communication Construction Company, or CCCC, by former Prime Minister Najib Razak, who...
