Iran: Lifting US sanctions will help salvage nuclear deal

Oct 18, 2019

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Iran's supreme leader will not meet President Donald Trump unless Washington halts its "economic terrorism" that has hurt ordinary Iranians. Zarif said the removal of U.S. sanctions — which he described as a form of extortion, arm twisting and intimidation — could also help salvage the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal, which the U.S. unilaterally withdrew from last year. He said Tehran has the right to reduce its compliance under the nuclear pact after the U.S. left, but it can return to full implementation if the U.S. fulfils its commitment...

SEREMBAN, Malaysia — Malaysian rescuers stepped up their search Friday for a 15-year-old London girl who vanished from a nature resort six days ago by playing voice recordings of her mother and brought in members of an elite commando force as they combed the hilly forest terrain. The family of Nora Anne Quoirin discovered her missing Sunday morning from the Dusun eco-resort in southern Negeri Sembilan state. Police believe the teen climbed out through a window in the...

The rate was last cut by a quarter-basis point to 3% in July 2016, but was raised back to 3.25% in January 2018. The central bank forecast the economy will expand between 4.3-4.8% this year. It said in a...
